All Summer - Kid Cudi, Best Coast, Rostam (Vampire Weekend)

As far as I can see this is Converse's second installation in an exhibition of great songs spawned from unlikely collaborations. The first was of course "My Drive Thru" feat. Julian Casablancas, Pharrell and Santigold. The second is "All Summer" and it features Kid Cudi, Bethany Consentino of Best Coast fame, and the instrumental and probable songwriting skills of Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend. It came just a week to late for the summer playlist but that doesn't mean you lot can't just add it in there ey does it? Listen and Download "All Summer" after the beep.

Stream: Twilight Eclipse Soundtrack

So say what you like about the films (they are a bit crap) but what is clear is that this lot don't half put together a good soundtrack. With each movie they seem to have got better and better. 'Eclipse' sees new tracks from Muse, Metric, The Bravery, Florence and the Machine, Sia, Fanfarlo, The Black Keys, The Dead Weather, Beck and Bat For Lashes (Together!) I could go on and on. Anyway the track-list and my pick of the songs are after the beep. You can stream the whole album here.

Ruby Soho (Rancid Cover) - Vampire Weekend

That's something I never thought I would post, Vampire Weekend cover Rancid! At first I was sceptical, very sceptical. However my doubts were unfounded, Vampire Weekend's style of playing actually complements the punk side of the song very well. I think this is because the fast riffs vampire weekend can play keep the pace whilst Ezra Koenig's voice adds a little more subtlety to the lyrics than his punk counterpart. MP3 is below. Enjoy.

Newcastle Music Scene: February

After spending a long time browsing various music websites for some sort of organized gig listings for Newcastle i decided it that it might save me and the rest of you a lot of our precious time if I just wrote a blog post dedicated to the music scene in Newcastle for the coming month so here it is.

Cousins - Vampire Weekend (Music Video)

This song speaks for itself (it says "I'm friggin amazing") so i am just going to discuss the video. A lot of bands have done videos a bit like this one (Justice with Dance) but i still think this one is the best mainly because it is less produced. It look almost like the band have just picked a random street, some random props, and some random riffs and through musical and cinematic genius have made an outstanding music video. Enjoy.

Horchata - Vampire weekend

If the prospect of a new vampire weekend album wasn't getting you all excited don't fear i have worked out how to cure that....Listen to "Horchata". This song is such a big leap from their first albums infectious tickley guitar and drums, in fact if their first album was tickling you with indie goodness this song is more like having one big feel good indie percussion hug. The only thing about this post which may make you feel sad inside would be the fact that you have to wait until January 11th to hear the rest of the album, at least that leaves plenty of time to repeatedly listen to "horchata". enjoy.
