Hypewriter: Clock Opera

Hypewriter aims to bring you the bands destined for greater things at a time when you can go see them in small venues without paying astronomical ticket prices, allowing you to enjoy and appreciate the music these great bands are making.

Clock Opera are the band I have chosen as my first venture into my new series of posts, 'Hypewriter'. The London based four piece are a good place to start as they embody everything which I want to promote in these posts, they a great band which have potential to be even greater with the support of fans. The band are fronted by Guy Connelly (formally of The Corrections and The Fall Out Trust) and in his words make 'Chop Pop'. The genre 'Chop Pop' should, in this case be taken literally. Clock Opera take guitar riffs and everyday objects and 'chop' them up into tiny pieces, somehow putting it all back together to create the most harmonic and noise filled symphonies. Listen to Clock Opera's tracks and Remixes and Watch the video for 'White Noise' after the beep.

Despite only releasing one single in the form of 'White Noise' the band already have an impressive catalogue of songs, all of which show the diversity and maturity this band possess in abundance. Listen to 'White Noise' and 'Once and For All' below.

White Noise - Clock Opera
Once and For All - Clock Opera

The band are not only impressing with their music but also with their video for 'White Noise' which was directed by Aoife McArdle and features an impressive and original montage. you can watch the video below.

As if Clock Opera aren't already appealing enough, they are already developing a huge reputation in the Remix-sphere. They have recently produced remixes for the likes of Marina and the Diamonds, The Phenomenal Handclap Band and The Golden Filter. The thing that impresses whilst listening to their remixes is the fact that they really do 'Remix' the song, their not afraid to move lyrics around and alter pitch or tempo. It is refreshing to hear a band that do not simply put a heavy dance beat behind a perfectly good song and call it a remix, Clock Opera are a band that really earn the right to put their name to a remix. You can listen to all three remixes below.

Baby - The Phenomenal Handclap Band (Clock Opera Remix)
Hide Me - The Golden Filter (Clock Opera Remix)

The last year has been massive for Clock Opera, after signing with Pure Groove for the 7" release of 'White Noise' they supported Marina and the Diamonds on her sold out UK tour and now have the release of new song 'A Piece Of String' scheduled for 7th June. You can watch the teaser video for the single below.
