Video: Band Of Horses - 'Infinite Arms' Teaser

Anyone else extremely excited.

MP3: Lights - Interpol

Amazing new song from Interpol. It's got all the pieces of the dark indie puzzle; the progressivity, the haunting lyrics, the heavy bass-line and the dark suits. You can download 'Lights' for the small price of your email and date of birth. Listen and Download after the beep. What do you think of the new track, Oui ou Non? (I will give a hint........ Oui Monsieur)

Stream: Tenderoni - Kele

The single 'Tenderoni' will be released on 14/6 and will feature on Kele's debut LP 'The Boxer'. Despite the name sounding like the new franchise from 'pepperami' the track itself is an electro-bass-synth masterpiece. It is definitely not new bloc party, it is definitely great. Listen and comment after the beep. What do you think of solo Kele, potentially better than Bloc Party or just incomparable?

Brandon Flowers announces solo album

The speculation over the countdown on The Killers website drew only one conclusion in most people's minds, and now it has been confirmed. Brandon Flowers will release a solo album and you can sign up for info on it here

MP3: Lust For Life - Girls

Its been around for a while but Paste is giving it away for free, and its a great summer song.

Lust For Life - Girls
What do you think of 'Lust For Life' comment after the beep.

This is a party political broadcast from....Blur?

I will try and remain impartial throughout this post.....Well maybe not blur, but certainly 1/4 of them are placing their allegiance ahead of the general election. Dave Rowntree had to be fair already done that, he is in fact standing for Labour in the Cities of London and Westminster Area and this week has had a thing or two to say about David Cameron's election campaign and more specifically music taste.

It all started when David Cameron decided to have a photo-op re-creating the iconic photograph of The Smiths outside Salford Lads Club. Thankfully (or not) protesters prevented this monstrosity (or not) from taking place, waving banners and chanting, a number made a very good (or irrelevant) point 'Oi! Dave - Eton Lads is 300 miles". Many were making the highlighting the lack of Tory support for working class families, and they made a good point (or a bad one depending on political views).

Anyway Labour and music responded in the form of Dave Rowntree. This week he has been speaking out against David Cameron's apparent enthusiasm towards The Smiths stating that Cameron 'is a Smiths tourist' and 'Real Smiths fans dress a certain kind of way, and they have a certain kind of haircut, and they wear certain kinds of T-shirts. But what they probably don't do is have their picture taken outside the Salford Lads Club.'

He has a very good point and just to prove he is more about the music than the politics he also criticised politicians in general for their somewhat transparent interest in popular music. He picked out Tony Blairs actions during his time as prime-minister, "What got my goat about Tony Blair inviting all the bands to Number 10 was that that was the standard way politicians had interacted with musicians for generations. Cool Britannia was nothing to do with us. We never said Britannia was cool", adding that "It was like when Harold Wilson called The Beatles round. What happens at those things is not that the politicians say: 'Well, what do you think we should be doing?' Politicians say: 'We're going to be doing this. Will you support us?' And nobody likes to feel taken for granted like that." What do you think of Dave Rowntree's comments? should politicians express their musical taste so readily and transparently in an election campaign? Comment below.

Stream: Hot N' Fun feat. Nelly Furtado - N.E.R.D

On the evidence of this track they have clearly got over being cut short at Glastonbury '09 (They over ran their set time, ironically stating 'if you want more, we ain't going anywhere' shortly before the power on all their equipment was cut, thats Rock N' Roll for you, hey look i used an N' like they did....Anyway).

'Hot N' Fun' is a typical N.E.R.D track, good bass riff some solid non-freestyle rap and a catchy chorus to boot. The addition of Furtado's voice makes this track even more appealing as it gives your ears a little surprise that they don't normally get with an N.E.R.D track. The album 'Nothing' is penned for a release date of June 15th with the promise of 'a whole different experience'.....hmmm. Listen and comment after the beep. Do you think Nelly Furtado and N.E.R.D is a 'Yey' or a 'Ney'

Stream: Born Free - M.I.A

Fast paced political bass, easy on the political. M.I.A has always frustrated me with her albums, both had potential but lacked any coherence. 'Kala' for example had the easy to listen chart success 'Paper Planes' but it didn't fit with the album, M.I.A should either go for the poppy/rap chart music or stick to the off the wall stuff because she is good at both but they don't mix.

The new song 'Born Free' shows the third option, a complete change of direction. A more fast paced bass driven track, 'Born Free' seems to stray from the reggae influences of 'Kala'. I can't really judge this track without the album, it could be that the change of direction was what M.I.A needed but if this sort of track was mixed with any of the previous two albums who knows what might come out. Will the change of direction be tres bon or was Maya better of refining what she already had? Comment & Listen after the jump.

MP3: Runaway, Houses, City, Clouds - Tame Impala

I kind of get the feeling this is what MGMT should have done more of on their more instrumental album. Tame Impala make the instrumental aspects more frantic, creating a 7 minute epic which leaves me both confused and impressed. Looking forward to what the album holds because lets face it, it ain't gonna be 11 of these. Enjoy.

Thanks The Fader

MP3: Whirring - The Joy Formidable

Formidable Joy indeed. The thrashed out guitar riffs leave you wishing you were at one of their gigs so you can jump up and down whilst still maintaining dignity, it is probably down to that urge that the band have such a great live reputation. They are now backing this up with a new EP entitled 'A Balloon Called Moaning'. You Can listen and download 'Whirring' below. Enjoy.

Video: Truth - Chiddy Bang

Another highly watchable video from the philly double act. Good song too. Enjoy.

Video: Drunk Girls - LCD Soundsystem (Music Video?)

Not sure what to make of this......at all. Is it a music video, is it a drug induced coma, is it really a load of panda's abusing the members of LCD Soundsystem, probably all of the above. Whatever it is I couldn't take my eyes off it.

MP3: Fool's Day - Blur

Its a special day for me and all other music bloggers, we can finally post that iconic album cover. Not only that but we get to drool over the first new material to be produced by blur in over 6 years.

The track itself i'm sure is meant to be a teaser of what is to come, by no means does it scale the heights of 'Coffee and TV' or 'The Universal' but it does show the band have it within them to write great new material whilst keeping their well formed brit-pop backbone.

Polarsets Released the impressive 'Leave Argentina'

Glastonbury published their incredible 2010 line-up

Emay mixed the 'Where The Wild Things Are' Soundtrack

Foals Suck: A Visual Collage

Review: Leave Argentina - Polarsets

'Leave Argentina' is a prime example of the upcoming genre of the moment. They have the samba rhythms of a Friendly Fires track and catchy riffs which bands like Two Door Cinema Club and Bombay Bicycle Club would be proud of. Plus they are one step ahead of them lot by not putting Club somewhere in their name.

The area in which Polarsets succeed so emphatically is how catchy their songs are, everything from the cowbell to the bass leaves you wanting to hum the tune for about a week after. It's probably a great source of publicity for the band. All aspects of the band work together meaning they don't have to rely on a repetitive riff or a particular set of lyrics, they can easily switch between a full bodied chorus and a simple lyric and drum combination.

It says something about how good this single is when the B side is their highly impressive track 'Just Don't Open Your Eyes'. Also Included is a Remix of 'Leave Argentina' by Thomas Sagstad & Mike Hawkins. You can get all three tracks for only 2 English Pounds. Bargain.

Have a listen to the single below and rate it yourself

MP3: Worried Shoes - Karen O & The Kids (Emay Mix)

Another reason for me to feel guilty about having not seen 'Were The Wild Things Are'. It really does have a perfect soundtrack, Karen O's voice reproduces the delicacy seen on YYY's 'Maps' track after track, I can't even begin to imagine how mind blowing it is when combined with the film.

Anyway on to this track. Basically its a mix of the soundtrack done by producer Emay who's solo project will be released on Potholes In My Blog next week. It is so well done that it sounds like a single track, and a good one at that. Impressively, The drum beat and synth link together in a style which is reminiscent and equal to that of early Zero 7. MP3 is below have a listen and download. Enjoy.

Stream: I Can Change - LCD Soundsystem

It's Definitely a 'Someone Great' rather than a 'North American Scum'. It's nice to see (and hear) that James Murphy has included some of the angst that gave his previous albums that edge over his electro indie rivals. 'I Can Change' (or 'Change' as it has been called in parts of the blogosphere)  brings Murphy's lyrics to the foreground to showcase their awesome power to affect. Murphy is not known as a writer of love songs because the definition of a love song confuses people. Songs which are subversive to puppy love, songs which watch The Notebook and don't shed a tear because they know that's not how it goes, those are true love songs. 'I Can Change' is one of those songs.

Lyrics like 'Love is a Murderer' and my personal favourite 'Love is an open book to a verse of your bad poetry' could easily fool even the hardiest of listeners. But the true message of the song comes in the title and chorus 'I Can Change, If it helps you fall in love'. Enjoy.

Stream: Laredo - Band Of Horses

There's nothing quite like getting to listen to a track from a new album before its release. You feel privileged, as if for some reason you were the only one which was permitted to listen. Band Of Horses have now given me that feeling twice within a couple of weeks. Firstly the video for 'Compliments' was released and now they have released another track from the new album for us to feast our ears on (along with some stunning album artwork).

'Laredo' is full of classic Band Of Horses folky goodness however the twangy guitar riffs and heavy drums show a very different side of the Horses from 'Compliments'. A side perhaps, that does drive cattle on a dust filled, sun drenched plain.

MP3: We Never Close Our Eyes - Scanners (The Angry Kid Remix)

There one of those bands i have a few songs by. Never scaling the heights of a full album or a prolonged interest, don't get me wrong they produce some great songs. 'This Is A Low' is one of my depressing yet motivating classics and can quite frequently stumble on to my playlist if i'm in a bad mood yet really want to get something done....Happily today is not one of those days.  The new song 'We Never Close Our Eyes' is a knock back to some of the first Scanners tracks but the remix from The Angry Kids gives this band a whole a new dimension. Enjoy.

MP3: We Want 2 - New Young Pony Club

The new NYPC album has received mixed reviews from the press and mixed feelings from myself. On one hand it has a couple of great songs but on the other hand a couple of good tracks is as far as 'The Optimist' goes. The album never builds upon the promising signs of the first album, instead they merely replicate it. Having said that I am a fan of the band and this new album (as i said before) has some great tracks, one of which is 'We Want 2'. It is track which immediately made its way onto my playlists and you can now download it for free, courtesy of RCRD LBL and NYPC. Enjoy.

MP3: Compliments - Band Of Horses

As if the video wasn't enough, you can now download the MP3of  Band Of Horses' new track 'Compliments'. Enjoy.

She & Him Live on David Letterman

As much as the She part of She & Him looks petrified in this live performance you can't argue with the impressive sound the band created here. It almost covers up the media's feeding frenzy on the fact that there is an ACTRESS in the band, almost. Enjoy.

Music Megan might like.

Rules Don't Stop - We Are Scientists

Hmmm. Can't quite believe this stayed off my radar for so long! Its only one of my favourite bands doing a new song, video, album! This is a tune. Anticipation for Leeds Fest rising at an alarming rate.
