2010 has so far laid the Goulding-Diamandis foundations of a craze sweeping the musical world, the craze of the off the wall female singer songwriter. As well as Marina & The Diamonds have done to build on that foundation, the genre-craze is yet to find its Je ne sais quoi. In my opinion Lissie is just that. More on Lissie, including Videos and MP3's after the beep.
Over the past few weeks it has been almost impossible to visit a music site without hearing about her new brand of soulful rock. Her tracks have a great originality, both lyrically and rhythmically. She has an impressive diversity both in her voice which casts a soul/blues feel over a track and in her instrumental work which is subtle when it needs to be but can all pull off a powerful crescendo towards the end of a track. Here is some of her great music.
That was 'When I'm Alone' and 'Little Lovin''. Below you can watch the brilliant cover of Lady Gaga's song 'Bad Romance' and grab the MP3 here, Download.
Lissie's EP was produced by Bill Reynolds of Band Of Horses fame and gave all her fans an appetite whetting glimpse into her debut album 'Catching A Tiger'. It seems like the future looks good for the Rock Island girl. I will leave you with the incredible 'Everywhere I Go'. In my opinion her best track to date, it has the most soul influences. It's lyrics move from a softly spoken verse to a belted chorus, and drive right to the emotional core of the track. Lissie heading for success, but for now a great soundtrack for a dusty summer's day.
