Hypewriter: The Band In Heaven

Hypewriter aims to bring you the bands destined for greater things at a time when you can go see them in small venues without paying astronomical ticket prices, allowing you to enjoy and appreciate the music these great bands are making.

So I got a heads up about these guys from none other than their singer Ates Isildak (kick-ass name), who modestly suggested I may like their music, LIKE is an understatement. These guys seem to have produced some brilliantly original tracks that have had me drooling like a rhythmical baby over their EP for the past week. Seriously guys, bands like this don't come along very often. Read More about The Band In Heaven after the beep, you can also download their EP for free.

Shoegaze is what spawned these guys but really they could champion any genre they wished to, Lo-fi, Rock, Dream Pop, you name it. If I were to spell out the ambition of this band I would probably just play you the lead track on the EP, 'A Tunnel Into Your Dreams' is a swirling synth-pop storm, with beautifully low key lyrics and a depth to it that is rarely seen in a demo. The next track 'Summer Bummer' dispels any thoughts that this band are a one track pony (see what i did there......), the distorted riff that runs throughout gives a tempo and urgency about the track that makes it inherently listen-able. In my opinion their best song is 'High Low'. It is a classic anthem evoking sounds of the great bands of the 90's, the Blur's, the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's, their influence is their for all to see and it makes for a great track. Everything in the track is given its own brilliance, the lyrical slurs  and building guitar riffs coil together to create a wave of musical perfection.

I guess to sum it up I would say that their sound is one that I don't think anyone could get bored with, a sound that could define this year, or a genre, or even musical generation, It's that good. Enjoy.
